Guide
Avoiding spray foam removal scams
Spray foam removal has attracted cold callers and rogue traders. Here's how to spot them, including how to check we are who we say we are.
Warning signs
- A cold call or knock on the door about your insulation. Ask yourself how they knew you had it.
- Claims your home is on a "national database" and will lose value unless you act now. The Property Care Association has warned about exactly this.
- ID with a trade body's logo. The Property Care Association has reported fake ID using its branding.
- Pressure to sign or pay a large deposit on the spot.
- A price that changes once work has started, without a clear reason.
What to check before you book anyone
- Look the company up on Companies House.
- Check it's a registered waste carrier on the Environment Agency's public register.
- Ask for a fixed written quote after a survey.
- Ask to see a sample completion report.
- Read reviews on more than one site.
We don't cold call
We don't cold call or knock on doors. If someone contacts you claiming to be from Spray Foam Removal Swindon, and you didn't contact us first, hang up and call us on the number on this website.
If you've been targeted
Don't agree to anything on the doorstep. You can report a rogue trader to Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice consumer helpline.
Questions
Do I have to remove spray foam?
No law says you must. Most people remove it because a lender, buyer or insurer needs them to. If nobody has asked, get an independent opinion before deciding.
